Franck Ribery and James Rodriguez were among the goals as Bayern Munich defeated Bayer Leverkusen 3-1 in a Bundesliga clash at the BayArena.
With three minutes gone, Ribery could have opened the scoring for the visitors after finding space inside the box, but his strike sailed over the crossbar.
Arturo Vidal was unlucky in the 15th minute to see his right-footed shot from the right side of the box turned away Leverkusen shot-stopepr by Bernd Leno following a clever through ball from Jerome Boateng.
In the 32nd minute, Javi Martinez sent the Bavarians ahead after powering home a left-footed shot from six-yards out following a corner, 0-1.
With five minutes remaining in the half, James Rodriguez sent a fine cross towards Niklas Sule, but the German international could not find the target with a header close range.
The first stanza ended with Jupp Heynckes' charges holding the upper hand and deservedly leading 1-0.
The visitors continued to dominate upon resumption in the second half as they pushed for another goal.
Bayern were rewarded for their dominance on the hour mark when Ribery made it 2-0 with a clinical low strike from inside the box, 0-2.
The tempo of the match slowed down after 70 minutes with both sides making numerous alterations to personnel on the field.
However, Kevin Volland pulled a goal back for Leverkusen 20 minutes before time after his strike from outside the box took a wicked deflection and sailed past a helpless Sven Ulreich, 1-2.
Suddenly the game came to life again with 10 minutes left on the clock as the hosts were motivated to find the equaliser.
However, Rodriguez sealed the win for the Bundesliga leaders in stoppage time with a beautiful free-kick that found the top corner to make it 3-1 to the Bavarians.
