Date: 14 March 2018
Venue: Vodafone Arena
Bayern Munich secured their spot in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals after overcoming Besiktas 8-1 on aggregate in the round of 16.
Jupp Heynckes' charges were more than comfortable heading into the clash after winning the first leg 5-0 in Munich.
The Bavarians broke the deadlock on 18 minutes as Thiago Alcantara timed his run perfectly to turn home Thomas Muller's cross.
Thiago's night was unfortunately cut short after he was forced off with an injury and replaced by James Rodriguez.
Ricardo Queresma looked lively for the home side and he went close to levelling matters on 38 minutes with a curling free-kick that sailed inches wide of the upright.
Bayern's lead was doubled three minutes into the second half when Gökhan Gonul turned Rafinha's cross into the his own net.
Besiktas managed to pull a goal back just before the hour mark through Vagner Love, who converted Gonul's cross from the left.
However, Bayern restored their two-goal cushion on the night courtesy of a strike from Sandro Wagner.
That proved to be the final piece of action of the half as Bayern won 3-1 on the night and 8-1 on aggregate.
