FC Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde was impressed with the atmosphere at the FNB Stadium and claims Mamelodi Sundowns have a lot of enthusiasm.
The Catalan giants registered a 3-1 win over the Brazilians in the Nelson Mandela Centenary Cup clash on Wednesday evening.
Luis Suarez, Ousmane Dembele and Andre Gomes were on target for the visitors, while Lionel Messi was introduced in the second half, much to the delight of the fans in attendance in Johannesburg.
“I like it (Sundowns) very much, a team with a lot of enthusiasm, the environment and the ambiance was fantastic,” the Barça manager told SuperSport TV, according to his translator.
“It is an honour to be invited to celebrate the 100 years that Nelson Mandela was born I think the people enjoyed it very much watching his favourite players playing.
“It’s a pleasure to be here African supporters like to be happy and enjoy everything it’s been nice being here. It’s been a good experience learning from them.”
